ABOUT OUR WHOLISTIC PRACTITIONERS JOANNA HAWTHORNE Jo Anna is a graduate of the Potomac Massage Training Institute (PMTI) in Washington, DC. The 600 hour program provided training in Swedish and deep tissue massage, spa and hydrotherapy, holistic nutritional counseling and Thai Yoga Massage. Jo Anna studied Pranassage at the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica. The 100 hour intensive program includes studies in yoga postures and movement, breathing techniques, and mind-body awareness. Jo Anna also received a B.B.A. in Finance from Howard University . She did graduate course work at American University (AU) in Health Fitness Management. At AU she oversaw the USPS yoga program, taught stretching and body sculpting classes and worked as a fitness trainer. As a Certified Facelift Massage Specialist, Jo Anna performs an all natural treatment that includes cleansing, toning and moisturizing the skin and 30 delightful minutes of massage to the muscles of facial expression. With her extensive training, Jo Anna likes to assess her clients needs to customize a treatment that promotes healing and relaxation, giving her clients "the ultimate spa experience". Jo Anna has used alternative therapies for many years and practices yoga on a regular basis; she loves to bike, run and hike in the great outdoors. YOLANDA HAWTHORNE Yolanda combines a lifelong passion for food, design and the healing arts into her position as Health Supportive Chef and Director of Catering. Yolanda is a graduate of the Natural Gourmet Cookery School & Institute for Food, where she studied under the tutelage of Ann Marie Colbin, founder and original pioneer in Whole Foods Cooking. In addition, she studied at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition and the Ann Wigmore Natural Health Institute in Puerta Rico. Yolanda worked at Aveda's Organica Restaurant in Osceolo, Wisconsin, where she was exposed to the "spa-style" Californian cooking. Yolanda also launched Pura Vida Catering with her sister, JoAnna, which was the first healthy "meals on wheels" program serving the National Capital YMCA and other clients in the DC area. Yolanda prepares meal plans for The Healing Garden and is a regular consultant for Fusion Natural Spa in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. BIANCA PASIKHANI Bianca is a junior at Columbia University in the City of New York, majoring in Art History. Bianca has experienced healthy living throughout her life, joining her mom (Jo Anna) in yoga sessions and outdoor activities. At Columbia, Bianca uses her Champion juicer to make freshly prepared juice cocktails, giving her a natual boost of energy to master her tough coursework. Bianca does research and development for the healing garden, studying ancient civilization diets, Egyptian use of all natural products and indiginous tribes around the world. She began working at a young age, helping to operate her family's business, Bianca Inc. t/a Marx Cafe which was eventually sold as a turn key operation.

We offer a serene and peaceful environment where you can relax, unwind, and enjoy our many healing modalities. The grounds include an herb and vegetable garden, professional chef’s kitchen, covered deck, yoga, dance & meditation studio, massage treatment room, and lots of tranquil space to reconnect with your inner self.

VITALITY ...Drink from the Fountain of Youth. We feature a juice bar where we grow our own wheatgrass-considered the GOLD of the juice world. Our fruit smoothies and vegetable juice cocktails are freshly prepared using organic seasonal produce. We serve both live and lightly cooked foods and follow the philosophy of using food as medicine and medicine as food. We teach food combining to optimize the digestive tract’s ability to cleanse and detoxify the body naturally. Combining live foods with proper rest, physical activity, meditation, and a healthy positive attitude, allows one to strengthen the body and spirit.
Our “herb garden” provides fresh infused medicinal teas, herbal body wraps, and herbs that flavor and enhance our nutritious foods. We also make our own salt glows and aromatherapy massage oils.
